Is social media losing sway for employers
Employees have moved en masse to online job boards as the preferred vehicle for hiring. They have also been quick to utilise social media in a variety of career and job-related discussion, however, the influence of social media seems to have declined somewhat on last year.
Although we are not seeing a large fall in use of social media to make employment decisions by candidates, it is clear that employees are using other tools now to evaluate opportunities.
This may explain in part the increasing focus on online talent communities, where more informed discussions become possible with a network of current, past and potential employees of particular organisations. These platforms enable candidates to hone in on relevant matters that will directly sway their job decisions.
Employers should now be taking a closer look at these networks as their popularity and usefulness grows.
