We are looking for a talented Test Technology IT Associate Engineer to join our team specialising in Engineering for our Engine Business Segment in Darlington.


This is a permanent role working Monday - Friday between 6.30am - 3.30pm 37.5 hours per week. Salary is £38,057 increasing to £40,060 after 6 months.


In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Leads software and hardware technologies support in an engineering environment, develops and supports engineering processes and systems.
  • Participates in the design, development, and support of engineering systems; writes documents and code; tests engineering systems using user-level knowledge of at least one high-level language currently used on projects.
  • Installs software and leads licensing/access controls issues; resolves helpdesk tickets and provides customer support with installations, training and application support for assigned products; supports major systems changes and implementations of new hardware and software.
  • Maintains high level of understanding and capability for support of Windows or UNIX operating systems interfaces.
  • Participates in cross-functional reviews; collects and tabulates metrics; gathers data using Six
  • Sigma tools; schedules tracking systems and other process improvement tools.
  • Takes corrective actions based on problem reports and change requests as needed to ensure high-quality software products.
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.
  • Coordinates engineering systems development including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
  • Leads and participates in improvement projects.


Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialised skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
  • Maintain data integrity across the product development test cell block in line with QSP 6.03 and UK standards.
  • Maintain test cell support of IT issues (trouble shooting and fault finding) to maximise test cell uptime
  • Development, installation, design, sourcing maintenance and commissioning of new IT related systems within the facility.
  • Be the first point of call for all PC and LAN based issues in facility related to the Operation (not desktop/laptop issues) covering control software as well as all other operational systems.
  • Ensure consistency to site and global practices by maintaining a link with central IT & acting as an extended team member
  • Maintain backups and ensure compliance to site and global policies
  • Responsible for maintaining control software dual santorin host.
  • Work closely with facilities team members and engine team to understand their IT needs.
  • Contact and work with outside suppliers to organise spares, service visits and in-house repairs as well as sending equipment back to suppliers for repair.
  • Deal with queries and resolve IT issues with all facility employees in relation to test technology.
  • Be responsible for upkeep and maintenance of all IT related documentation, LAN structure drawings, IP address set up for equipment.
