Role Summary:
To administer technical support for the specialist-teaching facilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide technical support for practical classes including the preparation of solutions and materials, restocking of consumables, setting up and clearing specialist-teaching areas, waste handling, ensuring that equipment is functioning and carrying out routine maintenance.
  • To introduce, explain and provide on-going advice and support in the use of equipment to members of staff, students and visiting researchers.
  • To administer technical support for research, project and enterprise activities.
  • To make recommendations on equipment servicing and repairs.
  • To assist in the collation of risk assessment documents.
  • To assist in the collation of equipment and process standard operating procedures.
  • To maintain equipment and chemical inventories.
  • To working flexibly with other technical staff to ensure the smooth running of all specialist
  • To participate in Technical Support Unit meetings.

Essential Criteria
This education establishment delivers a wide portfolio of taught programmes in the Health Sciences and Social Care areas. In addition to the delivery of taught programmes, the School undertakes a varied range of research and enterprise activities.
The post holder will be based in the Biomedical Sciences Teaching laboratories .Ideally a degree in a Science or Food discipline

Hours 37.5 hours per week Term Time only
