Senior Tax Accountant - Interim
Reporting to the Financial Controller for the EMEA region, with a dotted line to the Group tax function, you will be supporting numerous European entities with indirect tax reporting and assisting with queries. The role may also involve assisting in other tax related matters and assisting with group transfer pricing.
Strong communication skills are essential as this role interfaces with many teams including Group Tax, Accounting, Billing and the Accounts Payable team.
Responsibilities will include
Ensuring accurate and timely preparation, completion and filing of quarterly VAT returns across EMEA and all compliance work such as, EC Sales list, Intrastat, voluntary disclosures where applicable and any other ad hoc returns.
Liaising with AP/AR/Financial controllers/business to review individual transactions and make any necessary corrections.
Working with Treasury to forecast when large VAT payments will occur
Preparation of VAT reconciliations for the auditors
Manage making tax digital projects for the EMEA entities
Manage errors and exceptions to minimize the impact on financial results and avoid non-compliance penalties with the Tax Authorities.
Take ownership of VAT audits/Queries
Ensure that all relevant VAT changes are considered in terms of system impact and that the information is communicated and documented appropriately.
Documenting VAT process and communicating to the wider finance team as necessary
Keep up to date on current tax practices and technical issues
Involvement in, and initiation of, projects on process/system efficiencies
Analyse VAT Group set up to identify where optimisations can be made and manage administration of the Group with HMRC/Other European Authorities
Opportunities to work with the Group Tax Function on global projects with regards to indirect tax
Assisting with the group transfer pricing, to ensure that sales are recorded in the correct entity, with the correct tax treatment on intercompany transactions.
Either ACA, ACCA (or equivalent) or CIOT/CTA Qualified/Part Qualified.
Knowledge of UK VAT legislation and reporting requirements
Advanced Excel skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highly organised
Detail oriented, strong research and analytical skills
Ability to work independently, to work under pressure and balance multiple projects and priorities
