Payroll Controller, Kingston upon Thames, £32,000 - £40,000 (pro-rata) 6 months contract

The Payroll Controller will be working in a busy payroll department to ensure UK & Ireland temporary workers are paid accurately and on time.
The Payroll Controller will be responsible for:
Assisting with the accurate & timely completion of outsourced weekly and monthly payrolls for the temporary workforce in UK & Ireland (1,000+ workers, both PAYE and Independent Contractors)
Collating all data required for accurate payroll processing in line with tight deadlines
Checking payroll input & output to ensure 100% accuracy
Reviewing existing payroll processes to seek out improvements
Ensuring that all payroll payments are passed through for prompt customer invoicing
Reviewing worker payments against customer billing reports to ensure correct margins are achieved
Assisting with phone and email queries promptly and effectively from both internal and external customers
Processing BACS payments in accordance with payroll schedules
Responding to requests for information from key agencies
Knowledge & Experience
Solid understanding of payroll processes including statutory payments and reporting requirements;
At least 5 years previous payroll experience in a high-volume environment
Good Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookup formulas) to analyse large data volumes and perform calculations
Knowledge of sales ledger cycle and cash allocations
Knowledge/experience of the recruitment industry, or previous use of Microsoft Dynamics AX would be an advantage
Excellent attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
