Virtual Assessment Centres will take place on 24th and 26th November 2020, following which successful candidates will be offered an industrial placement for 2021/22

LifeArc is a medical research charity with a 25-year legacy of helping scientists and organisations seek out new ways to transform great science into greater patient impact.
Working from our Centre for Therapeutics Discovery (CTD) in Stevenage, we take novel academic targets and generate lead stage small molecules and therapeutic antibodies for indications with unmet medical need.
We are true pioneers, bringing together a network of partners to tackle specific diseases while directly funding academic and early stage research. So far, we have helped develop four innovative drugs (Keytruda®, Actemra®, Tysabri® and Entyvio®), and a brand-new test for antimicrobial resistance.
We are looking for up to 10 placement students who are interested in early therapeutic discovery to join us at LifeArc during the 2021/22 academic year. It is a unique opportunity to get involved in our exciting project work and be part of a team that is working across a number of areas of the drug discovery process.
You will work closely with one of our experienced team members, and gain valuable experience in areas such as:
Protein expression and purification
Assay design, optimisation and automation
High throughput screening
Identification of therapeutic leads
Target validation studies (gene editing, pharmacology, bioinformatics)
Cellular models of disease supporting small molecule and/or antibody programs
Antibody screening and optimisation
During your placement, we will expect you to deliver regular presentations of experimental results and conclusions to the project team, while maintaining high quality written lab notebook records of your research. In return, you will have the opportunity to use the work you do here to assist with your degree submission and gain true research experience.
