Our client is a molecular diagnostics company developing diagnostic tests in the fields of infections and oncology. The company applies its novel, proprietary molecular technologies to discover and develop new assays and diagnostic tests for a range of clinical applications. Founded by an experienced and highly successful leadership team, they have ambitious plans to grow from its strong foundations and become a leader in the field. The company is backed by leading venture capitalists and private investors and is currently developing its first commercial products. Our client is currently expanding its R&D operations and consequently has a new position available for a motivated scientist to join its laboratory team.
The role and responsibilities:
As a Lab Technician you will assist with the timely and efficient progression of all pre-clinical research activities and will ensure correct use and maintenance of equipment and software in the lab. You will be responsible for ordering laboratory goods, reagents and with preparation of media, disposal and autoclaving of waste. Rigorous data handling, storage and curation will also be essential. The successful applicant will have familiarity with compiling and maintaining laboratory safety documentation according to UK law.
- Laboratory experience in microbiology and molecular biology.
- Experience in pathogen handling and work at BSL2 and possibly BSL3 containment levels.
- Experience in mouse models of infection will be advantageous.
- Skills in analytical chemistry, immunological techniques (i.e. flow cytometry, ELISA, Western Blotting, immunofluorescence) will be advantageous.
Advanced knowledge of English (spoken and written) is required as well as attitude and ability to work with others.
