Job description

Our Client are a leading electronic manufacturing company based in the North East of England. The company currently require a talented Electronics & Test Technician to join the business.

Purpose of the Role:

  • Test prototypes, products and components, both from the company and from suppliers, for improvement, safety, performance and quality control
  • Provide pre-compliance electronic testing before submitting final products to external test houses
  • Recommend improvements to components, wiring and build process to improve product quality and performance
  • Lead fault diagnosis and root cause analysis on Company products and components from suppliers and recommend improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test prototypes and analyse results
  • Test devices for improvement, safety and quality control
  • Provide technical evaluation of existing products and alternative components and solutions.
  • Support product development by providing product testing and carrying out test plans to schedule
  • Provide fault diagnosis of products with electronic defects either during delivery or as field returns.
  • Support project teams to ensure our products meet the company's specifications, customer expectations especially EMC and electrical safety.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to determine the best components, wiring layout and general best practise
  • Be responsible for all internal / pre-compliance electrical qualification tests on products and projects to ensure a smooth and quick pass at external test houses
  • Test, analyse and suggest improvements to 3rd party supplied components
  • Test and report on product functionality and analyse data
  • Collaborate with the Quality and Supply Chain departments to suggest improvements to processes and 3rd party suppliers
  • Produce test reports and keep logs of data and any changes

Skills Required:

  • ONC/HNC in electronics (Or qualified to above level by relevant industrial experience).
  • Relevant industry experience in a similar role
  • Experience in electronics repair / analysis
  • Able to make a positive contribution to the overall team
  • Good communication skills

  • Up to £30,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package
