We are looking to recruit an outstanding bioinformatician to join our expanding Antibody Discovery team based in Stevenage. The successful candidate will have the leading role in the bioinformatic development of the antibody discovery platform for antibody repertoire analysis and lead candidate selection. Using the large datasets generated across multiple research projects, you will develop novel algorithms, analytical tools, and pipelines to incorporate into the software platform. You will have the opportunity to analyse large data sets and influence the development of the company's technology strategy moving forwards.
You will join a collaborative environment comprising 20 scientific and other staff with academic and industry backgrounds. Our work is project-oriented, leading to coordinated efforts with much communication, towards common objectives in getting diagnostics to patients. Our main objective of translating research knowledge and potential into diagnostic tests gives rise to a diverse range of such projects, with each one posing different challenges for wet and dry lab scientists.
You will be interested in developing strategic bioinformatics capability, but also show immediate commitment to hands-on planning and implementation of bioinformatics analyses for lab-based projects, working in the biotech/biopharma industry, with particular importance placed on next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, tools and processing pipelines. You will have at least three years of programming experience (R, Python or Perl), Linux (bash scripting) as well as proficiency in the use of relational databases (SQL, JDBC) e.g. Oracle, Postgres or SQL server. You will have PhD, MSc, or BS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field discipline. Experience with antibody repertoire sequence analysis, or antibody discovery is highly desirable.
