Principal Scientist Biologics

Principal Scientists are considered to be experienced team and line-managers in biopharmaceuticals and are able to demonstrate the ability to matrix manage drug discovery teams. Scientists are heavily involved in drug discover programmes.

Principal Scientists for pharmaceuticals have backgrounds in biological drug and antibody engineering. They are heavily involved in Drug Discovery programmes. The position is held by highly organized individuals with excellent time management skills. Previous work experience of antibody drug discovery including generation of bi-specifics and ADC’s within the pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry are also expected in such roles.

What's special about Principal Scientists in this sector is the in-depth knowledge of antibodies and the human body with specific diseases. Apart from being highly educated in science, they are leaders in the bio-pharmaceutical field able to not just lead, but also motivate others in the industry and their team of moving scientific discoveries forward as they often interact with the external scientific community including potential collaborators and companies.

The responsibilities of principle scientists include:

  • Project manage antibody humanisation projects, including collaborative academic projects, as well as Biotech collaborations.

  • Manage a team dedicated to delivering clinical candidate antibodies.

  • Help develop the antibody humanisation capabilities at for their respective companies.

  • Identify innovative technology and its implementation.

Principle Scientists would be working for Kelly's pharmaceutical clients such as LifeArc, SAI and BioMarin who operate throughout the UK with their main focus in London and the Midlands region around Nottingham.
