HBOS (Halifax and Bank of Scotland) has exciting opportunities in retail banking. With 1,000 high-street branches, 25 million customers and some hugely popular products, they're in a great position to offer you a rewarding job, typically in a branch or a contact centre.

Branches

"We're very much at the forefront of retail banking and are extremely proud of the products we're able to offer our customers. The focus within each of our branches is on delivering sales whilst providing the highest levels of customer service. For example, everyone in the branch team is encouraged to spot opportunities where customers can be recommended to our financial advisers. This ability to generate new business is key to helping each branch meet its targets. It's a great social environment to work in and you'll find our managers are very approachable and always open to new ideas."

Contact Centres

Millions of calls come into our contact centres every month. These range from simple queries which can be processed via the automated system, such as checking a bank account balance, to more complex queries which are answered by a consultant. We deal mainly with individual HBOS customers, but also deal with customers from different affinities and joint ventures such as Sainsburys, Centrica and GE Capital. Contact centres consist of between seven and ten teams grouped together in crews. Each crew will specialise in one of these areas:

  • Service
  • Sales
  • Mortgage Retention
  • Mortgage Sales

We call our front-line colleagues 'consultants'. If you work in sales, you'll be a 'Customer Sales Consultant', if you service customers, you'll be a 'Customer Service Consultant'."
