Kelly Girl Originals Celebrate in Style
NEWS RELEASE
10th February 2004
Seven original Kelly Girls from 1973 attended a champagne presentation lunch in Birmingham to mark the finale of the company’s 30th Anniversary year. Inevitably Kelly had lost touch with the temporaries who worked with them in the early 1970’s, when the company was established in the UK, so a national ‘hunt’ for original Kelly Girls was launched last year encouraging them to get in touch and join in the 30th anniversary celebrations. A great time was had by all, and many of the original Kelly Girls commented that meeting the other ‘originals’ was like meeting old friends.
Lucky Maureen Lawrenson, a Kelly original from Llandudno, won the prize of a weekend away at a Marriott Hotel of choice. Ann Luke, Operations Director for Kelly Services, said, “We were absolutely delighted to have had the opportunity to meet some of our original Kelly girls who helped establish our reputation in the UK 30 years ago. It was really great to hear their stories and learn what they had been up to since they worked for us in the 1970’s. It was a brilliant end to our 30th anniversary celebrations.”
