Looking for skilled support staff? Kelly Educational Staffing can help.
If your school requires qualified and experienced support staff, Kelly Educational Staffing is ready to meet you needs. Whether you are looking for teaching assistants, special needs support or nursery nurses, KES can find the right people to support the pupils in your school.
Teaching Assistants – a valuable classroom resource
In recent years, the number of non-teaching staff employed in schools has risen dramatically. Factors which have contributed to the growing need for classroom support for teachers include the inclusion in mainstream schools of children with special needs, the growing burden of paperwork and teachers’ need to delegate routine tasks in order to deliver a heavily loaded curriculum. Teachers value the contribution made by teaching assistants and pupils in turn benefit from the presence of another adult in the classroom.
Support tasks which are typically undertaken by our teaching assistants include:
- Working with small groups of children to support specific literacy and numeracy activities
- Assisting children with the development of personal and social skills
- Supervising children who are using classroom equipment such as a computer
- Helping with the preparation of teaching materials and the management of the school environment
- Supporting an individual child with learning difficulties
Since September 2004, the government has been encouraging teaching assistants to further their skills through formal qualifications which will be met with corresponding pay enhancement. With teaching assistants primed to take on an even greater role in providing educational support for teachers, pupils, and the school as a whole, leading to an increase in demand for skilled personnel who can rise to the challenge.
Meeting your needs
Kelly Educational Staffing has access to appropriately trained and qualified teaching assistants to match your school’s needs. We recognise that being a teaching assistant means being trained to deliver a high standard of professional childcare. We even offer our support staff the opportunity to enhance their skills by taking part in training days outside of school time throughout the year.
References
To recruit teaching assistants of the highest calibre, we carry out stringent qualification, reference and disclosure checks, in addition to interviewing all prospective staff face-to-face. Two references are obtained, one of which is a professional reference proving previous experience as a teaching assistant.
Nursery Nurses – the demand continues to grow
With more and more parents returning to full-time work after having children, nurseries across the UK are experiencing expanding waiting lists. Naturally, this in turn has led to a dramatic increase in the demand for nursery nurses. The main duties of nursery nurses are to supervise the safety and routine of the children in their care. Activities typically undertaken by nursery nurses include:
- Planning and organising a variety of activities
- Creating an imaginative and constructive playing and learning environment
- Understanding and monitoring a child’s development
- Providing progress reports to parents
